BRIDGEND COUNTY BOROUGH COUNCIL
(BRIDLEWAY 46 MAESTEG) TEMPORARY ORDER 2021
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council as the Highway Authority for Maesteg in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1)(b) and 15(8)(b)(i) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended), and under all other enabling powers, have made an Order which will temporarily introduce the restriction set out in the schedule below.
The restriction is necessary in the interest of public safety as a recent inspection of the bridleway revealed that the surface of the route had been severely eroded. This has meant that a section of the bridleway is unsafe for the public to use and a closure is needed to protect the public and to enable further investigation, design work and repairs to be undertaken.
The Order continues in force the 21 day closure implemented by emergency Notice under Section 14 (2)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
The Order came into force on 26/07/2021 and will continue in force for a maximum period of 6 months.
The alternative route for pedestrians travelling in a southerly direction is via Bridleway 46 Maesteg, Footpath 46B Maesteg, the maintainable highway from Gelly Eleanor to Llan Road, Footpath 16 Llangynwyd Middle and Footpath 46C Maesteg and vice versa when travelling in a northerly direction. There is no alternative route for equestrians and cyclists.
No pedestrian, equestrian or cyclist shall proceed along Bridleway 46 Maesteg from the southern bank of the Nant Sychbant and proceeding in a generally south south-easterly and then south westerly direction to its junction with Footpath 46C Maesteg for approximately 220 metres.
