BRIDGEND COUNTY BOROUGH COUNCIL
(COMMERCIAL STREET, MAESTEG) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council as the Highway Authority for Maesteg
in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984
(as amended), and all other enabling powers, intends not less than 7 days from the
date of this Notice to make an Order which will temporarily introduce the restriction
set out in the schedule below.

The Order is necessary due to insufficient width of carriageway to maintain vehicular
access during patching works to the carriageway and is in the interest of public
safety.

The Order will come into force on the 18/08/2024 and will continue in force for a
maximum period of 18 months or until such time as the works are completed,
whichever is the sooner. It is anticipated the planned works will be undertaken
between the hours of 08:00 to 16:00 on Sunday 18th August 2024, 08:00 to 16:00 on
Sunday 25th August 2024 and from 08:00 to 16:00 on Sunday 1st September 2024.
Temporary suspension is necessary in respect of the weight restriction on Bridge
Street, Maesteg during the periods that closure is in operation

Schedule
No person shall cause any vehicle to proceed along Commercial Street Maesteg
from its junction with Church Street to its junction with Talbot Street a distance of 275
metres.
The alternative route for vehicles is via Talbot Street, Maesteg, Castle street, Bridge
Street, Commercial Street and vice versa.
Access will be maintained to all emergency services and pedestrians to properties.
The restrictions shall however only apply at such time and to such extent as shall
from time to time be indicated by traffic signs prescribed by The Traffic Signs
Regulations and General Directions 2016.

Ffyrdd 1984 (fel y’i diwygiwyd), a phob pŵer galluogi arall, heb fod yn llai na 7
diwrnod o ddyddiad yr Hysbysiad hwn, yn bwriadu creu Gorchymyn a fydd yn
cyflwyno’r cyfyngiad a nodir yn yr atodlen isod.

Mae’r Gorchymyn yn angenrheidiol am nad yw’r lôn gerbydau yn ddigon llydan i
gynnal mynediad i gerbydau yn ystod gwaith atgyweirio ar y briffordd ac er budd
diogelwch y cyhoedd.

Daw’r Gorchymyn i rym ar 18/08/2024 a bydd yn parhau mewn grym am uchafswm o
18 mis neu nes bydd y gwaith wedi’i gwblhau, p’un bynnag sydd gynharaf. Rhagwelir
y bydd y gwaith arfaethedig yn cael ei wneud rhwng 08:00 a 16:00 ddydd Sul 18 Awst
2024, 08:00 tan 16:00 ddydd Sul 25 Awst 2024 ac o 08:00 tan 16:00 ddydd Sul 1 Medi
2024.

Mae angen atal dros dro mewn perthynas â’r cyfyngiad pwysau ar Bridge Street,
Maesteg yn ystod y cyfnodau y mae cau ar waith.

Atodlen
Ni fydd unrhyw berson yn achosi i unrhyw gerbyd fynd ar hyd Commercial Street
Maesteg o’i chyffordd â Church Street i’w chyffordd â Talbot Street bellter o 275
metr.
Y llwybr amgen ar gyfer cerbydau yw trwy Talbot Street, Maesteg, Castle Street,
Bridge Street, Commercial Street ac i’r gwrthwyneb.
Cynhelir mynediad i’r holl wasanaethau brys a cherddwyr i eiddo.
Fodd bynnag, bydd y cyfyngiad ond yn berthnasol ar adegau ac i’r graddau a
ddangosir o bryd i’w gilydd gan arwyddion traffig a ragnodir gan Reoliadau a
Chyfarwyddiadau Cyffredinol Arwyddion Traffig 2016
